In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a central business district is under construction called Business Bay. Several skyscrapers are being built along the dredged and extended Dubai Creek in this project.
Approximately 240 buildings will make up Business Bay, including both commercial and residential developments. Business Bay was completed in 2008, and the entire development was slated for completion between 2012 and 2015.
The project is part of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Ruler of Dubai. As part of a new extension of Dubai Creek between Ras Al Khor and Sheikh Zayed Road, Business Bay is a new 'city' in Dubai that serves as a commercial, residential, and business cluster.
The project consists of office and residential towers set within landscaped grounds with a network of roads, pathways, and canals covered in a network of green spaces. As a freehold city, it serves as the regional business capital.
